'Raise the Roof' was an evening of entertainment (or rather, two evenings), conceived by Adrienne Thomas and aimed at generating funds to repair the roof of the Estrela Hall. It was staged in January 2003.

Raising the Roof for the Lisbon Players!

The Estrela Hall theatre is a unique and historical building, home to the Lisbon Players. This small amateur theatre company is an important and integral part of the cultural life of Lisbon and has maintained a consistent standard of excellence in theatre for over fifty years!

As performers there will attest, the theatre has its own unique atmosphere and artists love working there. However, when it rains, the water comes right through onto the stage area and the stairs leading up from the dressing rooms. It's essential for the future of the theatre that repairs to the roof be carried out as soon as possible. The Lisbon Players committee is dedicated to finding ways of raising the necessary funds and will therefore be offering opportunities to its members and supporters to become actively involved. 'Raise the Roof' is one such opportunity ...

Beat the post-Christmas blues and join us at the Lisbon Players for an evening of entertainment, including songs, poems and sketches from some of our best performers.

All the proceeds from the evening will go towards the cost of much-needed repairs to the roof of our theatre in Estrela. We're asking for a donation from our members and friends of 10 euros (5 euros concessions) at the door. You still need to book, however, and the number is 21 396 1946.

There will be two performances only, on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th January at 21.30, at the Estrela Hall, Rua da Estrela (next to the British Hospital). Book now for a unique evening's entertainment.
